The site of Toro Muerto, wich covers an area of 2 Kms long and 200 mts wide, is scattered with about five thousands of volcanic rocks, on wich petroglyphs have been engraved . Animals, people, geometric and concentric figures and many other shapes can be seen on these rocks with a wide variety of styles and engraving techniques. Where is this located? The site of Toro Muerto is located in the south of Peru, on the western side of the Andean (Province of Castilla, department of Arequipa). It lies on a large plateau of desert dominating the Valley of Majes at an altitude varying between 600 and 800 m. It is 11 km long and 5 km wide, and is bordered to the east by a large cliff.
